T'ville school superintendent to be evaluated The Thomasville Board of Education approved March 20 a comprehensive evaluation of Superintendent Vic Adkison by John Osburn, a consultant from Auburn University. "It is required by law by the state," Adkison said Tuesday. "It has to be a person that is trained in the state evaluation system.... The evaluation works on a three-year cycle." This is related to a proposed new contract for Adkison. He is in his second year as superintendent. "It is based on competency areas," he said, such as finances, law, curriculum instruction, leadership, and technology. In other action from the March 20 meeting, payroll for February totaled $921,151.74, and accounts payable totaled $212,157.17. • A resolution was passed approving measures to attain the required General Fund balance equal to one month's operating expenses. As part of the resolution it is stated that settlement of the current Boise Cascade ad valorem tax dispute would produce approximately $276,098 increasing the operating balance above the required one-month's balance. There is also a pledge to "reassess all locally funded teacher units and non-certified position to determine if salaries may be absorbed by other funding sources (and) reduce locally funded teacher units and noncertified positions if they cannot be absorbed by other funding sources." • The following personnel changes were approved: the retirement of Lisa A. Moore, math teacher at Thomasville Middle School' voluntary transfer of Gachel Woodard from Child Nutrition Worker to Child Nutrition Manager at Thomasville Elementary; and 10 days for an on-the-job injury for Janet Molloy.
• The next school board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on April 17 in the Thomasville High School Library. There will be a work session an hour earlier for board members to discuss the possible shortfall of approximately $377,620 in state funds to the Thomasville system for fiscal year 2009.
