Gosport wreck injures one driver, blocks Highway 84

An accident occurred Tuesday at approximately 10:28 a.m. on Highway 84 East in Gosport. Two tractor-trailer rigs ran off the road but did not collide, according to Sherwanda Gaines of the Clarke County Emergency Management Agency. A 2000 Freightliner carrying logs, going eastbound, overturned. The driver, B.J. Douglas of Triple "J" Transport, was injured (top photo) and transferred by JETS ambulance to Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. He was listed as stable later in the day, said Emily Steadham, administrative assistant at the hospital. The driver of the 2005 International, Wayman Morrison of Mobile Forest Products, was not injured. His truck (right photo) was traveling west, and the driver said the vehicle was able to stay upright because it was empty of a load of wood chips. The accident backed up traffic on 84 for a while.
