Clarke Homemakers host district meeting at Tompkins Baptist The Clarke County Homemakers hosted the District III Alabama Homemakers and Community Leaders annual meeting at Tompkins Baptist Church March 25. Members of AHCL attending were from Sumter, Madison, Hale and Clarke counties. Carol Davis, Clarke County President welcomed all and led the group in the Pledge and Creed. June Fagan introduced the Clarke County Probate Judge Becky Presnall as the speaker. She shared many of the duties of her office. Esker Harrison, State President spoke of the state meeting to be at Shocco Springs Oct. 27, 28 and 29. She talked about some of the planned activities. She also introduced President-Elect Ruth Ann Stalnaker who spoke a few words. District III Coordinator Becky Jockish was introduced. She presented some award certificates that had been won in 2007 by the counties attending. Christie and Logan Dunn entertained with some songs. Carol Orler, who also belongs to the Arts Club encouraged homemakers to have a booth at the Pioneer Days Nov. 8. Lee Coleman gave the devotion using a poem the late Shirley Wright had used at the last meeting she attended. She then closed with the blessing before lunch. The catering service of Simply Elegant supplied a lunch. After the meal was served, the door prizes were distributed to everyone.
Mrs. Davis closed with leading the AHCL Collect.
