Speaker change for Ala. Writers Symposium

The Alabama Writers Symposium in Monroeville recently announced that Anne Rivers Siddons has canceled her appearance due to health issues. Daniel Wallace will replace Siddons as the speaker for the Opening Banquet Thursday, May 1.

The symposium agenda for Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3 remains unchanged.

Daniel Wallace's latest novel, "Mr. Sebastian and The Negro Magician," has received rave reviews and is a No. 1 Independent Booksellers Pick. Wallace is also the author of "Ray in Reverse," "The Watermelon King" and "Big Fish," which has become a modern Southern classic.

Alabama writers participating in the event include Ace Atkins, Kate Campbell, Beth Nielsen- Chapman, Wayne Flynt, Bob Halli, Patti Callahan Henry, Rebecca Gilman, Hank Klibanoff, Michael Morris, Roger Reid, Philip Shirley, Cynthia Tucker, Sue Brannan Walker, and Elyzabeth Wilder.
