At the right Ricky Everett works on the fields at S.P. Hudson Park. There are 30 teams in the Grove Hill leagues this season and they will be using the facilities at Hudson Park from April 12 through July. There will be a parade to kick off all of the festivities that begins at 9 a.m. when the teams line-up. Teams will line-up on Church Street. The parade will run from DuBose Street. Then turn right on Jackson Street, then turn right on Cobb Street before turning left on Church Street to Hudson Park. The first games begin at 10:45 with Auburn playing the Orioles (coach-pitch) at Doc Mitchell Field; the Diamondbacks playing the Reds (11&12-year-old) at the John Becton Field; the Sharks playing the Bandits (T-Ball) at the Scotch Field; the Storm playing Wild Things (9 & 10-year-old softball) at the Sonny Gibson Field; and the Outlaws playing the Grasshoppers (T-Ball) on the old softball field. After that games will be played the rest of the day at each of the fields. There will be a field dedication ceremony during the opening day festivies as well. League officials urge everyone to come out and cheer the teams on as the season gets started. Photos by Amy Newton
