Allen fans 15 in CPS win
Corrie Allen struck out 15 Lady Volunteers over seven inninsg of work. She walked six and allowed four hits. Leading 2-1 late in the game, Tess Ackerman hit a 3-run homer to give CPS a 5-1 cushion. She had four RBI. Courtney Dunagan, Jessica McKinley, Allen, Haley Hill, Anna Hicks, Kristan Schultz, Stephanie Sales and Whitney Gavin all had hits in the win. Last Friday the Lady Gators dropped bothe ends of a double-dipper with Faith in a key area series. In the second game CPS lost 4-2 after jumping out to an early 2-0 lead. McKinley, Ackerman and Schultz each had a hit. Ackerman took the loss. In the opener the Lady Gators lost 9-0. Ackerman and Hicks had the two lone hits. Allen shouldered the loss. Kiley Dunagan also pitched in the game. "We played poorly," Coach Billy Hamilton said. "The game was closer than the score indicated. We just made mistakes. They only scored one earned run, but that was enough."
Friday the Lady Gators travel to Tuscaloosa to play Tuscaloosa Academy. On Monday they go to Jackson Academy. Next Thursday they host Morgan Academy.
