Jackson Nutrition Center to host health fair April 22

The Jackson Nutrition Center will host its annual health fair Tuesday, April 22, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the H.W. Pearce Memorial Park Assembly House.

The event will feature a large number of booths and various health checks for participants. Those include:

*Blood pressure checks

*Bone density tests

*Body mass index (BMI) evaluations

*Cholesterol checks

*Vision and hearing checks.

Free legal advice will also be available by the law firm of Davis and Neal. Norma McCrory will give a short presentation concerning Alzheimer's and will be on hand to answer questions about the debilitating disease that affects many older citizens.

Entertainment will be provided by Patricia and Mike Smith, and the First Baptist Senior Choir led by Brian Jemison. A special Hee Haw show will also be presented by a group from the Wagarville Nutrition Center.

Lunch will be cooked by Jackson City Councilman Paul South, who will provide meals for approximately 200 people. Games are also on tap, and a number of door prizes provided by area businesses will be given away throughout the day.

"We invite everyone to come out and join us," said Jackson Nutrition Center Director Sherry Moseley. "We hope to have a good turnout and provide some good useful information. A lot of what will be presented is very important to staying healthy."
