Principal's Address

We are in the middle of yet another busy month. We have about five weeks of school left and lots of work to do. Mrs. Moore, our school librarian, has been busy promoting the Scholastic Book Fair.

Many classes will be going on field trips, end of the year learning celebrations and of course one of the most anticipated events is coming soon--- National Physical Education and Sports Week. Mrs. Susan Jones and Miss Ashley Griffin work super hard getting the week planned and events organized.

If you would like to spend time at our school, having fun outside with students, please contact our PE staff for volunteer information. We are looking forward to all the educational experiences our children will be involved in the next few weeks.

We can now take a deep sigh of relief- SAT/ARMT testing is over for this school year! Our faculty and staff work hard all year to present information and prepare our students for this event. We try our best to motivate and encourage our students to take the test with an "I can do this..." stress free attitude.

This year our school wide testing slogan "Our Scores will be great… In 2008!" got us in the testing spirit. Test answer documents and booklets have been packed away and will now be sent to a company for scoring. Once the tests have been scored, the results will be sent back to the Clarke County Board of Education.

After sorting and lots of double counting, the results are passed on to the community and individual student scores are distributed to parents. Much information is gathered from this process to aid in providing the best education for all students.

I take pride in all that occurs at GHES. It takes more than the administration to see that this school runs smoothly. It takes motivated and dedicated faculty and staff who truly want to provide the best education possible. I feel that we have some of the most caring teachers in this state.
