Slayton-Powell plan May 31 ceremony

Mr. Powell, Miss Slayton
Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Wayne Slayton of Jackson announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Jenilee, to Daniel Drury (Dru) Powell V, son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel (Danny) Drury Powell IV of Leroy.

The bride elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Searcy Slayton, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Howard S. Jones of Jackson.

Miss Slayton, a 2003 graduate of Jackson Academy, received a bachelor of science in nursing degree from the University of Alabama in December of 2007.

While in Tuscaloosa, she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, served as Alabama Baseball Hostess and Alabama Athletic Hostess, and is an Alabama Alumni Scholar.

Jenilee is currently employed with Druid City Hospital Medical Intensive Critical Care Unit in Tuscaloosa.

The prospective groom is the grandson of Mrs. Alline Garris and the late Dr. Daniel Drury Powell III of Leroy and Mr. and Mrs. James L. Overstreet of Chatom, Alabama.

Mr. Powell, a 2002 graduate of Leroy High School, received his bachelor of secondary education/ mathematics degree from the University of Alabama in December of 2006 and will be completing his masters degree in sports management in May of 2008.

He is currently on staff with the University of Alabama Men's Basketball team as a graduate assistant coach and employed with the Tuscaloosa City School System as a math teacher at Paul W. Bryant High School.

The wedding will be an event of Saturday, May 31, 2008, six o'clock in the evening at First Baptist Church of Jackson.

Reception will be conducted at the H. W. Pearce Memorial Park Assembly House in Jackson immediately following the ceremony.

Family and friends are invited through the medium of the press.
