Three-way split in county tourney

The Jackson Aggies beat the Clarke County Bulldogs 12-3 Tuesday afternoon, causing a three-way split as each squad went 1-1.

Jeremy Armstead had a 3-run homer. Jamie Eckstein was 2-for- 2 with a solo homer. Mack Outlaw and Matthew Allen each had two hits.

Logan Breedlove (2-0) got the win.

Tyler Walker went 1-for-2 with one RBI for CCHS. Hunter Cross went 2-for-4. Josh Watford went 1-for-4 with one RBI. Jacob Horton was 1-for-3. Dwayne Owens went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Zack Watford went 1-for-2. Adrian Snell went 2-for-3. Rashad Snell was 1-for-3.

The Thomasville Tigers beat the Jackson Aggies 9-1 Monday afternoon in the first game of the Clarke County Tournament in Grove Hill.

It was the Tigers first win over their county and area rival this season.

Kenny Sanders got the win.

Alex Buford, Dillon Digman and Rob Anderson each had two hits. Paul Noble had a home run and three RBI. Shaq Jackson had a double and three RBI.

Jackson was lead at the plate by Kent Myer who went 2-for-3 with a double. Mac Outlaw was 1-for-2. Windham Jackson and Jeremy Armstead each had a hit.

Jeremy Reeves (2-1) shouldered the loss as he gave up three runs in three innings of work. Cody Bayles and Myer also pitched for Jackson.

In the nightcap Monday Clarke County pounded out 18 hits that led to same amount of runs in an 18-11 win over Thomasville.

Chris Andrews had the hot bat for the Bulldogs as he went 3- for-5 with three doubles and five RBI. Josh Watford went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Hunter Cross was 3-for-3 with three RBI. Bubba Frazier went 3- for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Dwayne Owens went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Tyler Walker, Zach Watford and Adrian Snell each had a hit and an RBI. Rashad Snell added a hit.

Deandre Love (4-0) got the win as he pitched the first two and two-thirds innings. He gave up three runs, four hits and struck out four. Jacob Horton (1) got the save as he pitched the next three and a third inning, allowing five hits and fanning three. Cross struck out three in the final inning of work.

Tyler Sturdivant took the loss for THS.

Reeves Bozeman and Paul Noble each had two hits. Josh Jackson had a home run.

All three county programs start the playoffs Friday.

The second-ranked 4A Aggies (20-4) will be hosting Andalusia while the Tigers travel to East Brewton to play W.S. Neal.

The Bulldogs (17-10) head to the Wiregrass to play Straughn (12-9).

Each first round playoff will be a best 2-of-3 series with the double header being played on Friday and the third game, if necessary, being played on Saturday. The second rounds will be on Friday, April 25.

Other area teams advancing to the playoffs are the Leroy Bears, hosting Red Level; McIntosh at Sweet Water; and Millry at J.U. Blacksher.

Leroy and Millry advanced to the state finals last year with the Bears winning the Class 2A title.
