County to resurface additional road The Clarke County Commission approved Tuesday resurfacing .36 miles of Harvest Road at the same time that crews are currently resurfacing the Chilton Road (County Road 17). The CR 17 project is funded with federal money. The Harvest Road resurfacing will cost the county up to $25,000. "It needs some attention," said County Engineer Sam Noble, "and while we had the contractor right there on the spot, it would be a good time to try and catch that." In other action from Tuesday's meeting, the commission approved the moving of two mobile homes from the county right-ofway on Rosewood Drive. The right-of-way was acquired for the maintenance of the road, said County Engineer Sam Noble. "All of that will be reimbursed," he said. • Permanent status was approved for John Ball, a booking officer at the Clarke County Jail. • The county approved filling a part time position at E-911. • A 15-year non-exclusive franchise agreement was made with Mediacom cable TV company to serve county areas outside municipal limits. • The commission approved the sheriff filling a deputy position.
