FFA grants awarded for area airports

U.S. Representative Artur Davis (D-Ala.) announced Tuesday $1,700,462 in grants for aviation facilities throughout Alabama's Black Belt region.

The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded grants for rehabilitation of aircraft parking aprons and general runway repairs. This will reduce the amount of foreign objects and debris on the runway making it safer for planes to take off and land at the facility.

Areas receiving FAA grants include Aliceville ($184,399), Butler ($428,098), Camden ($373,412), Jackson ($269,590), and Selma ($444,963).

Congressman Davis said, "Our office remains committed to ensuring the development of our regional airports in the district. We appreciate what these facilities mean not only to the surrounding communities but to our state's overall economic development as well."
