Photography exhibit April 25 and 26 at local museum The "Photography In Your Own Backyard" Contest and Exhibit will be Friday, April 25, 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday, April 26, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Winners will be recognized on Saturday at 4 p.m. The exhibit will feature 299 photographs in different categories on display at the Clarke County Museum and Helm's House. The photographs submitted are by amateur photographers. Chip Cooper, award winning photographer and current director of the University of Alabama Photography Department, Bryan Hester, a former student, and Adam Morrow, a current student, were judges for this contest. Cooper has been instrumental in recognizing and developing talent in the area of photography in Clarke County through judging exhibits and photography workshops. In the three years he has been involved with the Grove Hill Arts Council Cooper said he has observed a steady increase in the quality and interest in photography. The quantity and quality of the photographs for this year's exhibit surpassed even his expectations, Cooper said.
The exhibit is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Grove Hill Arts Council and the Arts Council of Thomasville and made possible by The Alabama State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
