Shop Grove Hill Dear Editor, The Grove Hill Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a "Shop Grove Hill" day on Friday, April 25. On this date, we are encouraging everyone to shop somewhere in Grove Hill for any special gifts they need, supplies they need to spruce up around the house and yard, or even plan ahead and purchase supplies for your hurricane preparedness kit. At the chamber we think Grove Hill's businesses are the best. We have name brand items that can be purchased right here in town. There is also the opportunity to purchase unique and special merchandise for any occasion. Why spend money on gas traveling around to shop when you can shop right here in town? On Friday, April 25 make plans to support your local merchants and have a special shopping day in Grove Hill. Taxes paid in Grove Hill support your local police, fire department, park, library, roads, and much much more. Make your investment in Grove Hill by supporting you local businesses.
Happy Shopping! Relay thanks offered Dear Editor, I would like to extend a huge thank you to each and every person involved with Relay For Life this year. The total amount raised was $48,923.64. Although we did not reach our goal, I am so proud of every penny to help cancer patients! I would also like to thank our committee, Cheryl Horton, Cristi Armistead, Kerry Reid, Elaine Averett and Julia Ann Deas for their dedication to this event. The teams are to be commended for a job well done. They are Wilson Hall Middle School, Grove Hill Baptist Church, Tompkins Baptist Church, Union Baptist Church, Grove Hill Memorial Hospital, License Commission, the Lesueur Family, CCHS FCA, Southern Care, Clarke Prep Daycare, First United Security Bank, Town of Grove Hill and Grove Hill Merchants/Business Team. And, last but definitely not least, our sponsors we thank. They are Clarke Washington EMC, Clarke Mobile Gas, First United Security Bank, Merchants Bank, Dunn's Exxon, Lathan Funeral Home, Skipper Insurance, Georgia Pacific, Petal Pusher, Grove Hill Floral and The Medicine Chest. Thanks to the Clarke County Museum for allowing us to graciously use the museum grounds for this event.
A special thank you to all of the cancer survivors who participated and even those who could not. You are our reason to relay! I am so grateful to live in a community that cares about finding a cure for cancer! I look forward to 2009, I hope you will join us!
