Marsh

Alonzo Jimmy "Jim" Marsh, 70, of Coffeeville died April 19, 2008.

He was born Nov. 21, 1937 in Ozark. He served in the United

States Navy as a submarine sailor for

23 years. He was a

member of the Gideon's International. He worked construction for many years until he was diagnosed with cancer in 2006. He served as a foster dad to many children.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Lila Gaylor Marsh; two sons, James (Lisa) Marsh, Damon (Rebecca) Marsh, all of Dawsonville, Ga; two daughters, Carmen (Wayne) Young, Grand Bay, Tracy (Stan) White, Mobile; one step-daughter, Lori (Darrin) Murphy, Grand Bay; his siblings, Peggy (Raymond) McTaggert, Taylor Marsh, both of Acworth, Ga., Robert (Patsy) Marsh, Ariton, Sandra (Johnny) Coste, Jerry Marsh, all of Ozark; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Alonzo Marsh and Ruth Davis Marsh and one brother, Kenneth Marsh.

The service was April 22 at 12 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel. Military graveside services and burial was in Serenity Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. John United Methodist Church, Mobile or to the Coffeeville United Methodist Church or to your favorite charity.
