Gators close out baseball season

The Clarke Prep School Gators closed out the season as they lost 10-2 to the Faith Leopards Monday in Grove Hill.

It was the last meeting between the two schools.

Taylor Becton went 2-for-3. J.D. Powell and Tanner Tucker each had a double. Dillon Rowell and Matthew Furrow each had an RBI. Jason Gates added a hit.

Gates pitched two and onethirds innings, allowing five hits, walking three and fanning one. Tucker pitched the final four and one-third innings, striking out two and walking three.

The Gators took to the road last Friday and lost 11-1 to Fort Dale Academy in Greenville.

Cub McAleer started the game and pitched the first four and one-third innings. He struck out six and allowed three hits. Tucker pitched the final one and two-thirds, fanning two.

Tucker went 2-for-3 with a triple. Powell had a hit and an RBI. Rowell added a double. Furrow had a hit.

Clarke Prep edged Morgan Academy 4-3 last Thursday in Grove Hill.

Rowell got the win as he went the distance, allowing seven hits, walking four and striking out five.

Chad Dickinson went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Becton was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Powell had a hit and an RBI.

The Gators end the season with a 12-14 record.
