Sheriff's Dept. investigating vandalism
By Barry H. Hendrix Managing Editor

Approximately 100 mailboxes throughout the county have been vandalized in the last two weeks, according to Vergil Chapman, Chief Deputy with the Clarke County Sheriff's Department.

Calls have come from the Gosport community (11 Mile Post Road), Rural Road in Thomasville, Old Highway 5 in Fulton, Old Grove Hill Road, Pineywood Road and points from Grove Hill north.

There was a report of a trailer burglarized, county and personal equipment vandalized and even several dogs stolen in the Chilton area, which may be related.

Authorities with the Sheriff's Department continue to investigate the many cases, and they are asking anyone with information on the vandalism to call the department at 1-251-275- 8156.
