Winky wins

Winky Hicks of Grove Hill is always a crowd-pleaser at the Atmore Rotary Club's Fiddlers' Convention. This year was no exception. Not only does Hicks bring good music to the stage, he also cracks a few jokes - often at the expense of a friend in the audience. The competition was stiff this year as 45 musicians participated in the Fiddlers' Convention Saturday night in Atmore. Hicks came in second in the banjo category. He continues a tradition of winning in this category. In 2003, he came in third, but from 2004 to 2007, he took first place. Photo courtesy of the Atmore News
