Community Calendar BOE special meeting The Clarke County Board of Education will hold a special meeting Thursday, (today), Aug. 21 at 4 p.m. At this meeting Mr. Stephens will present for consideration several bid items and personnel recommendations. Democratic Party meets The Clarke County Democratic Executive Committee will meet Thursday (tonight), Aug. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Clarke County Courthouse in Grove Hill. The public is invited to attend. VFW Post meets All VFW Post and its ladies auxiliary of Post 5106 in Thomasville will have its regular monthly meeting Monday, Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. All members are invited to this meeting. CCHS Booster Club activities Clarke County High School Bulldawg Band Booster Club will be taking up doughnut orders Monday, Aug. 25. Please see a band or booster member and place your order or stop by the band room and make your purchase, the cost is $5 per box. The next fundraiser will be Saturday, Aug. 30, a car wash at the Diamond Gas Station in Grove Hill at 8 a.m., the cost will be whatever you give as a donation, stop by to show your support by allowing them to wash your vehicle, pump your gas or clean your windshield. Come see the band at the halftime performance in their new uniforms at the first game in Leroy on Friday, Aug. 29. Farmers Federation annual meeting The Clarke County Farmers Federation will hold its annual meeting Tuesday, Aug. 26 at the Clarke County Farmers Federation building located downstairs at the Alfa Insurance Company at 148 S. Jackson Street in Grove Hill. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and a social hour will follow. Door prizes will be awarded during the meeting. CCHS Class of 1998 reunion Clarke County High School class of 1998 will have its 10th year reunion Friday, Aug. 29-Sunday, Aug. 31. Parden family reunion set The Parden Family Reunion will be Saturday, Aug. 30 at the Bethel Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Coffeeville. Jackson and Lofton family reunion The descendants of the late Bettie R. Jackson and Ozzie B. Lofton will be celebrating its family reunion Saturday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Aug. 31. Activities on Saturday will be held at the S.P. Hudson Park in Grove Hill at 1 p.m. until and Sunday at 11 a.m. worship service at Spencer Chapel AME Church in Fulton. Coffee with Sylvia The Women's Business Center, Inc. and the Grove Hill Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor "Coffee with Sylvia" Thursday, Sept. 4 from 10 until 11 a.m. at the Clarke County Museum's Helms House located at 116 Cobb Street in Grove Hill. "Coffee with Sylvia" is a mentoring and networking group that helps the start-up entrepreneurial women build on the legacy of successful women business owners, learning from the mistakes and achievements of others.
