Jackson golf course robber gets 15 years

A teen-ager who assaulted and robbed a Jackson golfer on the golf course in May pleaded guilty to the offense and was sentenced to 15 years Tuesday.

Jerome Darrington was 17 when he assaulted and robbed a lone golfer playing on the Jackson course.

Judge Pedro Scrulock accepted his guilty plea and agreed to the deal reached with District Attorney Spencer Walker.

Darringon was sentenced to 15 years on the second degree robbery offense and to three 10-year sentences on three charges of burglary for breaking into vehicles at Pearce Park.

The sentences are to run concurrently, that is for the 15-year maximum sentence.

Darrington turned 18 in June.

A 14-year-old was arrested for the crimes at the same time as Darrington.
