Mike Blount named VP at First United Security

Mike Blount
Mike Blount, a native of Washington County, has recently been hired as vice president and loan officer for First United Security Bank. According to First United Security Bank's President/CEO Terry Phillips, Blount begins his duties immediately and will be conducting lending in the Jackson area and surrounding counties including Choctaw, Clarke, Mobile, and Washington.

"We are very excited to have Mike join our banking staff in Jackson," Phillips said. "His many years of experience and the strong customer relationships he has developed over the years will certainly be an asset for our bank."

Regional Manager/Senior VP Jim Sheffield invites Blount's customers and friends to stop by his new office at 2101 College Avenue for a visit. "We are very excited about Mike Blount joining our staff of lenders," Sheffield said. "Mike brings a wealth of experience to First United Security Bank. We look forward to being a part of Mike's established relationships from the past 35 years."

Blount is a veteran banker with a local perspective. Having been employed with local community banks during his career, he comes most recently from the old Southwest Bank of Alabama (now Capstone Bank) of Leroy where he was vice president/ branch manager since January 2008. "I appreciate FUSB giving me the opportunity to continue my banking career close to home," Blount said.

"I am looking forward to calling on new customers in the area and serving the banking needs that anyone might have."

He is married to wife, Wanda (Allday), and has two adult daughters, Meagan Lindsay and Molly Blount. Blount was educated at Leroy High School (1967), and received a bachelor's degree from Livingston University (1973) and Alabama Banking School of the South at the University of South Alabama (1982). He has also completed many hours of training in the financial services industry.

Among other accomplishments, Blount is a member of First United Methodist Church of Jackson where he serves on the finance committee. Blount is active with Ducks Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, both of Clarke/Washington County Chapter, and is also a longstanding contributor for the Ronald McDonald House. He has had past involvement with the Lions Club, Jackson Chamber of Commerce, United Way, Boy Scouts of America, and the Jackson Golf Association. Blount has also been involved in local athletics and school events and organizations for many years.
