Curtis Lamar Stephens Sr., 77, of Aimwell died Jan. 2, 2009 at his residence.

He was born Sept. 25, 1931 in Aimwell.

He was a member of

Aimwell Baptist Church. He was retired from the United States Air Force. He was a lifetime and founding member of the South Marengo County Fire and Rescue Squad.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret A. Lynn Stephens, Aimwell; one son, Curtis Lamar Stephens Jr., Aimwell; one daughter, Deborah A. Stephens, Aimwell; one brother, Earl Stephens, Demopolis; three grandchildren, Michael Travis (Rachel) Harrington, Gregory Lynn (Kimberly) Harrington, Margaret Michele (John) Sommers, all of Aimwell; one great-grandchild, Joshua Travis Harrington, Aimwell; two nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two daughters and one son.

The service was Jan. 4 at 3 p.m. with Revs. Don White, Cliff Scarbrough and Don Smith officiating. Burial was in the Aimwell Baptist Church Cemetery. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.

Active pallbearers were Michael Travis Harrington, Gregory Lynn Harrington, John Sommers, Stephen Abrams, Chris Luker, Jason Johnson and John K. Sommers.

Honorary pallbearers were Roy Rabon, Robert Rabon, George Flowers Sr. and South Marengo Fire & Rescue Squad, Employees of Southern Care Hospice, and the Employees of Physican Family Medical Center in Linden.
