Ruby Lee Gibby Clarke Bass, 91, of Jackson died Jan. 25, 2009 at Jackson Health Care.

She was born April 15, 1917. She was a native of Barlow Bend. She was a member of Union Chapel Baptist Church in Barlow Bend where she served in the Missionary Society. She was a former Sunday school teacher and the mother of the church. She was a member of L.H. Williams Pride #730 Order of Eastern Star of Barlow Bend.

Survivors include one son, Cleafie Earl Wayne (Corliss) Clarke, Periona, Ill.; two daughters, Dorothy Donald, Jackson, Lillie (Elder Herman) Brown, Fayette, Miss.; one brother, Leo Gibby, Mobile; three sisters, Luvertia King, Earnestine Scott, Cassie (Burford) Perkin, all of Mobile; 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sons, Frazier Lee Clarke, Curtis Clarke Jr., Jessie Lee Clarke; four brothers, Henry Gibby, Eddie (W.D.) Gibby, Zannie (Bill) Gibby Jr. and four sisters, Ola Mae Campbell, Frednoia Ely, Evelean Addie, Georgia Washington.

Visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Jackson Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. An Eastern Star ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. Friday. A second viewing will begin at 12 noon until the 1 p.m. funeral hour at Union Chapel Baptist Church in Barlow Bend. Rev. Tommie Moore, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
