Jimmie Thompson Ryland of Bigbee died Feb. 5, 2009 at a local hospital.
She was a member of Frankville Baptist Church. She was a grocery store owner and retired from Vanity Fair after 28 years as a lay marker. She loved to make beautiful quilts, was an avid gardener and she raised chickens and quails.
Survivors include one son, Norman L. (Ann) Ryland Jr., Bigbee; one daughter, Sandra (Gene) Holcomb, Satsuma; three grandchildren, Sherry (Chris) Deas, Tom (Deena) Ryland, all of Bigbee, Scott (Jennifer) Ryland; three greatgrandchildren, Heather Ryland, Jonathan Ryland, Celena Ryland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas W. and Gertrude Estelle Thompson, husband, Norman Lee Ryland Sr., a grandson, David Glen Holcomb.
The service was Feb. 7 at 12 p.m. at Three Forks Baptist Church in Bigbee. Burial was at Three Forks Baptist Church Cemetery in Bigbee with Bros. Lamar Chapman and Brandon Rainey officiating. St. Stephens Funeral Home directed.
Active pallbearers were Pip Allen, Joel Anderson, Steve Anderson, Eric Thompson, Ernie Henson and Peanut Thompson.
