Thomas Royce "Tea Cake" McVay, 67, of Grove Hill died Feb. 10, 2009 at a local hospital.
He was born Dec. 10, 1941. He was a member of Grove Hill Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis. He was a co-owner of McVay Home Health, was a former owner of McVay Grocery, former owner and operator of McVay Ambulance and former coroner of Clarke County.
Survivors include his wife, Alice McVay, Grove Hill; a son, Chris McVay, Grove Hill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John McVay and Ada Mott McVay and a son, Craig McVay.
The service was Feb. 12 at 11 a.m. at Grove Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Merck officiating. Burial was in the Grove Hill Cemetery. An online guestbook may be signed at www.lathanfuneralhomes.com Lathan Funeral Home of Grove Hill directed.
Active pallbearers were Levon Hicks, Charles Syphrit, Carlos Newton, Kevin Brunson, Ronnie Pruitt and Dan Barlow.
Honorary pallbearers were the John Becton Sunday School Class of the Grove Hill Baptist Church.
