Marshall McNiel, 93, of Jackson died March 26, 2009 at his residence.
He was a native of Atmore. He was a long-time resident of Pensacola, Fla. where he retired from his position as Supervisory Production Controller at the Pensacola Naval Air Station. Following retirement, he lived in Lillian until his move to Jackson in 1988. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson and he served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Brunson McNiel; two daughters, Anne (Dick) Nahlovsky, Dalton, Ga., Sharon ( Jerry) Gibson, Jackson; one son, Roger (Rebecca) McNiel, Chesterfield, VA.; one stepson, Cecil (Amy) Roberts; one sister, Betty Chamblin, Pensacola, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Louise Mooney McNiel
The service was March 29 at 3 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Gibson and Dr. Tim Huie officiating. Burial was in the Trinity Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers were Trey Gibson, Ben McNiel, Richard Roberts, Roy Roberts, David Roberts and Charlie Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers were caregivers: Cindy Gill, Cynthia Wright, Faye Garcia, Marie Dorman, Jeanette Lawson and friends of the Nutrition Center.
