Thomas Neven Kennedy, 81, died April 15, 2009 after a battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 27, 1927 in Chilton County. He was a graduate of Auburn University. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was an engineering manager in maintenance and construction with Ciba Geigy for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Grace Cornelia Stabler Kennedy, his brother, Irving P. (Nina) Kennedy Jr.; his children, Dr. Cheryl K. (Banks) Carroll, Dianne K. (Don) Irby, Thomas N. (Kathy) Kennedy Jr., Wilson Palmer (Karen) Kennedy and Connie K. (Al) Beers. His grandchildren are Thomas Banks Carroll, Henry Wilson Carroll, Andrew Kennedy Carroll, John Palmer Irby, Madeline Michelle Irby, Courtney Grace Kennedy, Caroline Faith Kennedy, Palmer Bourne Kennedy, Laura Kathryn Kennedy, Kennedy Grace Beers, Hope Dianne Beers and Tommie Ann Beers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irving P. Kennedy and his sister, Chrystal K. Ruthven.

The service was April 17 at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in St. Stephens with Rev. Jeff Spiller officiating. Burial was in the Wilson Family Cemetery in St. Stephens. Lathan Funeral Home of Jackson directed.

In lieu of flowers a contribution to St. Luke Episcopal School, The Proverbs 22:1 and 22:6 Fund. This would be in loving memory of Tom Kennedy and honors his and our family's support of the Mission of St. Luke.
