He was born Nov. 29, 1901. He was a native of Coy. He was born to the parentage of the late Robert Goode and Laura Dortch Goode. He was a loved and highly respected resident of Gosport for many years. He was a member of Mackey Branch #1 Baptist Church of Gosport where he served faithfully as a deacon for many years. He lived independently until the age of 105 when failing health prevented him from doing so. He then relocated to Camden under the care of his devoted niece, Anne. He was a retired farmer and bus driver.
Survivors include a devoted sister, Martha Mathews, Coy; one daughter, Dorothy Moorer, Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchildren; a devoted niece and caregiver, Anne (John) Matthews, Camden. He will be cherished in the hearts of a host of loving nephews, nieces, relatives and friends, the Mackey Branch #1 Church family and the Gosport community.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Autherine Bettis Goode, three brothers, Frank Goode, Albert Goode and Robert Goode Jr., and four sisters, Pinkie Davis, Emma Mc- Call, Amanda Perryman and Marzella LeFlore.
Services will be Sunday, July 12 at 3 p.m. at Mackey Branch #1 Baptist Church in Gosport. Viewing will be from 2 until 3 p.m. and following the eulogy with Rev. Dr. T.L. Douglas, pastor and eulogist. Burial will be in the Mackey Branch #1 Baptist Church Cemetery. Following the burial the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church. The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the staff of Camden Nursing Facility and Southern Care Hospice. Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson will direct.
