Mary Magdaline Ballard, 82, of Sweet Water died July 4, 2009 at her residence.
She was born June 26, 1927 in Blocton. She was a member of Nanafalia Baptist Church. She was a former seamstress supervisor for Vanity Fair.
Survivors include her husband, William A. Ballard, Sweet Water; one son, Billy D. (Rita) Ballard, Sweet Water; three sisters, Ressie Ballard, Joy Boykin, both of Sweet Water, Etoiel Cabaniss, Pennington; a host of nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Levert Miller, Carl Cabaniss and a sister, Lucille C. Goodpaster.
The service was July 6 at 2 p.m. with Revs. Glenn Akridge, Raymond Williams and Charles Rush officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Sweet Water. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.
Active pallbearers were Bryan Ballard, Benny Ballard, Mike Cabaniss, Mike Williams, Jamie Ballard, Philip Johnson and Jonathon Chapman.
Honorary pallbearers were Joe Ballard, Billy Ballard, Jimmy Ballard, Ben Ballard, Mack Chapman, Shelton Smith, Fred Dixon and John K. Smith.
