This big loggerhead turtle was photographed crossing Old Highway 84 near the old millpond just west of Grove Hill one day last week. As big as a washtub, the turtle with its jagged shell and monstrous head looks like a prehistoric creature and is just as fierce. A shove with a stick to try and help it get across the road showed he wasn't as slow as one might expect turtles to be. He quickly lashed out with a wide-open mouth and mean-looking teeth.
