Johnnie Dortch, 93, a native of Monroe County and a resident of Vredenburgh, died Aug. 8 at Camden Nursing Home. He was a retired farmer and laborer at the Vredenburgh Saw Mill and a member of the Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church in Hybart.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Alberta Dortch of Vredenburgh; one daughter, Mary Jane Dortch of Vredenburgh; three sons, William (Valrie) Dortch of Columbus, Ohio, John (Vadia) Dortch of Rochester, N.Y. and Floyd (Laura) Dortch of District Height, Md.; nephew Tyrone (Bridget) Moye of Jackson; and 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The service was Saturday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m., at Wayman Chapel A.M.E. Church. Rev. Raymond Mayes was pastor and officiating minister. Burial was in the Crosby Cemetery in Hybart. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directed.
