Shirley Counselman, 55, of Coffeeville died Aug. 12, 2009 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

She was born Nov. 27, 1953 in Grove Hill. She was a member of Horeb Baptist Church. She was a member of the West Bend/Bethel Volunteer Fire Department. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Gary L. Counselman, Coffeeville; two sons, Brent (Sylvia) Fuller, Whatley, Daniel (Ashley) Fuller, Grove Hill; one daughter, Kasie (Ben) Etheredge, Coffeeville; one brother, Bennie (Lucille) Vick, Whatley; three sisters, Dixie (Brian) Reeves, Jackson, Mary (Will) Creighton, Whatley, Sandra Bailey, Excel; three grandchildren, Abby Fuller, Jack Fuller, both of Whatley, Carter Etheredge, Coffeeville.

The service was Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. at Horeb Baptist Church with Revs. Warren Shewmake, Roy Dunegan and Howard Gaston officiating. Burial was in the Whatley Cemetery. O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.

Honorary pallbearers were Robert Edward Garrick, Tim Detlefsen, Will Creighton, Jerrold Syphrit and the West Bend/Bethel Volunteer Fire Department.
