Doris Ree Pugh DeWitt, 84, of Thomasville died Aug. 28, 2009 at Fair Haven Nursing Home in Birmingham.

She was born July 19, 1925 in Tallahatta Springs. She was a member of Thomasville Baptist Church. She was the office manager for Bruce Cogle Ford Dealership in Thomasville.

Survivors include one son, Stanley Earl "Stan" DeWitt; one grandson, Stanley "Wil" Wilson De- Witt; two granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth DeWitt, Sally Rebecca DeWitt; her grandchildren's mother, Sally Wilson DeWitt; two nephews, Joseph Newton, Doug Pugh; two nieces, Sandra Counselman, Suzanne McCullar; numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard "Bear" DeWitt.

The service was Sept. 1 at 11 a.m. at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville with Dr. James Best and Rev. Ty Parten officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville.

Active pallbearers were Doug Pugh, Joe Newton, Kenny Counselman, Philip Counselman, Hayden Pugh and Jimmy Moore.

Honorary pallbearers were the T.E.L./Elect Ladies Sunday School Class of the Thomasville Baptist Church.
