Emma Jean Dunn, 82, of Thomasville died Sept. 17, 2009 at her daughter’s home in Monticello, MS.
She was born Nov. 12, 1927 to Ozzie and Ruby Lyles in Pine Hill. She was a graduate of Pine Hill High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at Bedsole’s Department Store prior to marrying Kimbrough Dunn. She was a member of the Thomasville Baptist Church for over 50 years. She devoted her life to her husband and children. The measure of her loss cannot adequately be described in words. She will be missed.
Survivors include one son, Kim Dunn, Duluth, Ga, two daughters, Ruthie Sweat, Liburn, GA, Debbie O’Neal, Monticello, MS; one sister, Miriam T. Price, Sarasota, FL; four grandchildren, Jenny Thornton, Sydney Sweat, Joseph Sweat, and Dylan Sweat; two great-grandchildren, Autumn Thornton and Caleb McGrew.
She was preceded in death by husband, the late Kimbrough C. Dunn of Thomasville.
A graveside service was Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. in the Choctaw Corner Cemtery with Dr. James Best officiating. O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.
Active pallbearers were Frank Kight, Steve Sweat, Rusty O’Neal, Jim Price, Gerald Dunn and Gary Cooper.
Honorary pallbearers were Joseph Sweat, Red Sims, Charles Ellis Dunn and Dale Dunn.
