Mary Kennedy Reynolds, 84, of Northport died Sept. 19, 2009 at Heritage Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 16, 1925 in Chance and moved to Selma as a teen. She married Jim Reynolds in 1950 and they made Selma their home until 1995 when they moved to Northport. She loved books and crossword puzzles. She fulfilled a lifelong dream of writing and authored and published two family history books. She loved music and was a self taught pianist.
Survivors include two sons, James Edward Reynolds Jr., William Kennedy (Judy Wilks) Reynolds; one daughter, Leslie Reynolds (Barry) Holliday; one sister, Miriam Kennedy McLean; six grandchildren, Erica H. Reynolds, Madeline Y. Reynolds, Bradley M. Holliday, Harrison W. Reynolds, Alison R. Holliday, Jacob K. Reynolds; two great-grandchildren, Hannah and Carson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo H. and Elma F. Kennedy and her husband, James E. Reynolds Sr.
A graveside service was Sept. 22 at 1 p.m. at the Kennedy Cemetery in Lower Peach Tree with Dr. John A. Nixon Jr. officiating. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home - North of Northport directed.

Active pallbearers were sons, Edward Reynolds, Ken Reynolds, son-in-law, Barry Holliday, grandsons, Harry Reynolds, Bradley Holliday and Jake Reynolds.
Honorary pallbearers were the Northport Baptist Church Joy Sunday School Class, Trailblazers.
