Arthur Lee “Jam Up” Brown, 67, of Manila died Nov. 17, 2009 at Jackson Medical Center.
He was born June 11, 1942. He was a former resident of Chicago, IL.
Survivors include his wife, Queen Esther Brown, Chicago, IL; three sons, Arthur Lamar Brown, Dennis (Keshia) Elliot, Samuel Smith, all of Chicago, IL; two daughters, Amy Williams, Chicago, IL, Christene (Michael) Phillips, Jackson; one brother, Horace (Gladys) Brown, Manila; three sisters, Lou Ida (Levi) Marks, Mobile, Martha (Rev. Henry) Frowner, Manila, Augustine (Eddie) Bryant, Walker Springs; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and caregivers, Kim Frowner, Odester Leggett nephew and caregiver, David Clarke, cousin and caregiver, Martin Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Bessie Hunt Brown and a sister, Emma Brown Leggett.
The service was Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. at St. Matthew No. 1 Baptist Church in Manila with Rev. William Causey, pastor and Rev. Henry Frowner officiating. Burial was in the St. Matthew No. 1 Baptist Church Cemetery in Manila. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directed.
