Joe Edward Jackson, 86, of Thomasville died Dec. 28, 2009 at Southwest Alabama Medical Center in Thomasville.

He was born Nov. 18, 1923 in Mobile. He was a member of Thomasville Baptist Church. He was a retired manager of the Thomasville City Water & Sewer Board.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Evelyn Jackson, Thomasville; one son, Gary Joe (Judy) Jackson, Thomasville; two daughters, Joann (Gerald) Stephens, Thomasville, Karen (Olen) Kerby, Demopolis; one sister, Nell Outlaw, Jackson; eight grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren.

The service was Dec. 30 at 1 p.m. at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville with Dr. James Best officiating. Burial was in the Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville.

Memorials may be made to the Thomasville Baptist Church Hand In Hand Building Fund.

Active pallbearers were Olen Kerby, Clarke Kerby, Jackson Kerby, Gary Jackson Jr., Kerry Stephens, Brent Stephens, Jacob Kerby and Gerald Stephens.

Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of Thomasville Baptist Church and Clarence Newton, Jimmy Outlaw, Howard Jackson, Gerald Corgil, James Myrick, Don Pugh, Bill Williamson and John Jackson. (50-1tp)
