Lou Ella Gwin Stacey, 91, of Selma died Jan. 24, 2010 at the Perry County Nursing Home in Marion.
She was born July 7, 1918 in Walker Springs. She was a native of Clarke County. She was a graduate of Jackson High School. She completed her nurses’ training at Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing which began a nursing career that spanned 47 years in Mobile.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Maurice (Teresa) Stacey Jr.; one daughter, Carolyn Ruth Stacey (Bill) Salter; six grandchildren, Todd Salter, Blake Salter, Tyler Stacey, Trisha Stacey, Tamara Stacey, Travis Stacey.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, T. Maurice Stacey Sr., a daughter, Margaret Ann Stacey, parents, Henry Grady and Queen Itara (Autry) Gwin, a brother, John Louis Gwin, and sisters, Irene Bumpers and Mildred Bedwell.
The service will be Saturday, Jan. 30 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Theodore with Revs. Lonnie Byrd and Tom Stacey to officiate. Radney Funeral Home will direct. Burial will be in the Pine Crest Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alabama Baptist State Convention State Board of Missions for Disaster Relief in Haiti, or the Gideons International.
Active pallbearers will be Todd Salter, Blake Salter, Tyler Stacey, Bill Salter, and Grady Bedwell.
