Robert McConnell, 92, of Whatley died March 8, 2010 at Thomasville Nursing Home.

He was born July 1, 1917 in Pine Hill. He was a member of Horeb Baptist Church. He was a retired steam fitter.

Survivors include one son, William C. (Nell) McConnell Sr., Whatley; three daughters, Alice M. Parten, Mobile, Shelia M. Anderson, Perry’s Chapel, Rebecca M. Cotton, Walker Springs; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; several nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert H. Mc- Connell Jr., his mother, Rebecca Gwynn McConnell and a sister, Helen M. Bates.

The service was March 9 at 10 a.m. at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville with Revs. Tommy Gaillard, Johnny Harvell and Leon Harrison officiating. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Sonny Bates, William C. Mc- Connell Jr., Neal McConnell, Doug Parten, Charles Anderson and Phil Bates.

Honorary pallbearers were Randall Woodyard, Mark Anderson, Ray Mosely, Bill Schwatzhower, Robert Edward Garrick, Gene Parker and Billy Parten Jr.
