Russell McLean “Mack” Lawlis Sr., 63, of Prattville died March 12, 2010.
He was born Dec. 6, 1946. He was a native of Grove Hill. He was a member of the Milton Baptist Church in Jones, AL. He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and Alabama Peace Officers Association. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was a retired Conservation Officer with the Alabama Conservation Department.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne Reeves Lawlis, Prattville; one son, Russell McLean (Jennifer) Lawlis Jr., Wetumpka; one daughter, Laura Lawlis (John) Atchison, Plantersville; one sister, Pat (Cullen) Presnall, Grove Hill; six step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Virgie Mae McLean Lawlis and a nephew, Dean Presnall.
The service was March 15 at 3 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel in Grove Hill with Revs. Marion Ball and Larry McGowin officiating. Burial was in the W.A. Smith Cemetery in the Hebron community of Grove Hill with full honors by the Honor Guard of The Alabama Conservation Department and Marine Police.
