Shirley Jean Jackson, 72, of Jackson died March 20, 2010 at her residence.
She was born Jan. 8, 1938. She was a native of Tibbie. She was a member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church of Jackson. She was a retired office manager for Airgas, Inc. of Jackson.
Survivors include her mother, Eula Maxine Parnell, Pine Hill; her husband, Ward A. Jackson, Jackson; one son, Ward Allen “B.J.” (Brenda Manseill) Jackson, Isola, MS; three daughters, Deborah Jean (Kevin) Hicks, Gulfport, MS, Lisa Carol (Randy) Ward, Andalusia, Sherry Renee (Casey) Smith, Thomasville; six brothers, Rayford Parnell, James Skeeter Parnell, Douglas Parnell, all of Thomasville, Leon Parnell, Chilton, Kenneth Parnell, Mobile, Don Parnell, Leroy; four sisters, Sarah Bobbie Holder, Hamphill, TX, Diane Maxine Mullins, Grove Hill, Joyce Elaine Huckabee, Albany, LA, Sheila Lorraine Green, Pine Hill; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Elbert Parnell and a brother, Freeman Parnell.
The service was March 23 at 2 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Allison officiating. Burial was in the Sunny South Baptist Church Cemetery in Wilcox County. An online guest book may be signed at www.lathanfuneralhomes. com.
