Georgia Maxine McDonald, 80, of Dickinson died April 16, 2010 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of the community.
She was born May 1, 1929. She worked as a cafeteria worker for Clarke County High School in the 1960s and 1970s, and later as manager of Megginson's Department Store in Grove Hill. She was a member of the Bassetts Creek Baptist Church. She was a former president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 5106 in Thomasville. She was a mother and homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Calvin C. McDonald, Dickinson; three sons Greg McDonald, Warrenton, VA, Mike (Lesley) McDonald, Evans, GA, Don (Wendy) McDonald, Monroeville; one daughter Tracy McDonald, Monroeville; one sister, Mary Upchurch, Dickinson; and a grandson, Lance Corporal USMC Patrick McCarthy of Camp LeJuene, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, H.C. and Mary Belle Walker Buckalew, a brother, Jack Buckalew and a sister, Marshall Overstreet.
The service was Sunday, April 18 at 3 p.m. at Lathan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Kynard officiating. Burial was in the Magnolia Lawn Cemetery in Grove Hill, adjacent to the funeral home. An on-line guestbook may be signed at www.lathanfuneralhomes.c om (13-1tp)
