Alford Lee Todd, 53, of Jackson died May 8, 2010.
He was born Sept. 6, 1966. He was a native of Salitpa. He was a member of Springfield A.M.E. Zion Church of Salitpa. He owned Todd’s Trucking. Friends and relatives said, "To know Alford was to love him. While he had many virtues, many believed his greatest was that of patience. He was described as a man willing to wait upon God.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Lillie M. Todd, Jackson; one devoted daughter, Micole (Evon) James, Jackson, a devoted son, David Fail, Jackson; one brother, Curtis (Gertha) Todd, Detroit, MI; three sisters, Margaret Small, Detroit, MI, Wanda (Marvin) White, Queens, N.Y., Doris Todd, Jackson; three grandchildren; one devoted, Destinye Fail, Davion Fail and Jalyiah Fail; father-in-law, Ellis (Marjorie) Pendleton, Whatley; two sisters-in-law, Debbie (Rev. Larry) Purifoy, Selma, Sadie Chaney, Jackson; seven brothers-in-law, James (Wendy) Chaney, Mark Chaney, all of Jackson, Wayne (Judy) Johnson, Gary (Teressa) Johnson, Keith Johnson, Michael (Janice) Johnson, all of Whatley, Sam (Ida) Fail, Grove Hill; three god-daughters, Lakedria Pernell, Jackson, Olivia Stokes, DeaAundrea Stokes, both of Gainestown; a devoted friend, Eddie James Bettis; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfonzo and Viola Joyce Todd; one son, Wesley Todd; two brothers, Alfonzo Todd and Larry Todd and a nephew, Larry Todd.
A viewing will be Wednesday, May 12 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Jackson Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Jackson. The service will be Thursday, May 13 at 1 p.m. at Jackson Street Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Purifoy officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Jackson.
