Myrtle Luevern Coats Kiel, 88, of Coffeeville died May 14, 2010 at Crowne Health Care, Mobile.
She was born April 29, 1922 to the parentage of the late Condy Coats, and Mary Elmira Austin. She is a native of the Ebenezer Community. She was a member of Coffeeville Church of God in Christ where, before her health failed, served as a Sunday School Teacher, President of the Bible Band, President of the Hospitality Committee, the Trustee Board, and Church Treasurer. She was retired from the Clarke County Board of Education in the Food Service Department of Coffeeville Elementary School.
Survivors include four sons, Arthur (Brady) Kiel, Oak Park, MI, John (Marion) Kiel, Tuscaloosa, Travis (Wilma) Kiel, Los Angeles, CA, Richard (Yolanda) Kiel, Detroit, MI; two daughters, Sherman K. Whitfield, Midland, GA, Linda Kiel Ross, Daphne; one brother, James Coats, Oklahoma City, OK; four sisters, Lillian Coats, Harriet Edmonds, Gladys Parker, all of Oklahoma City, OK, Helen Todd, Gaithersburg, MD; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Kiel, a daughter, Lillie Pearl Mutcherson, and two brothers, John Coats and Richard Coats.
The service will be held Friday, May 21 at 1 p.m. at Church of God in Christ in Coffeeville. Viewing from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
