Joe Richard “Buddy” Calhoun, 54, died May 29, 2010.
He was born Nov. 19, 1955 in Whatley to Murtis (Glenn) Barnett and the late Prentince Calhoun.
Survivors include his mother, Murtis (John Lee) Barnett, Grove Hill; three brothers, Eddie Sloan, Florida, John Dell Barnett, Kelvin Barnett, both of Grove Hill; six sisters, Rosie Mary (Edward) Tarvin, Grove Hill; one devoted Linda (Charles) Jones, Mobile, Carolyn Black, Wanda (Marlon) Pritchett, both of Jackson, Laura Sloan, Mavis Barnett, both of Grove Hill; one uncle, A.C. Kennedy, Mobile; four aunts, Dorothy (Curtis) Hicks, Sara Glenn, both of Mobile, Virgil Mae (Clyde) Pugh, Grove Hill, Mary Tynes, Detroit, MI; a loving host of nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, cousins, extended family and many friends; a very special niece, Jakira Pendleton, a special cousin, Johnny Pugh and a loving and special friend, Annett Welch.
The service was May 29 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Whatley with Rev. Fernell Pendleton, officiating and Linda Laffitte presiding. Burial was in the Whatley Cemetery. Reese Funeral Home of Thomasville directed.
Active pallbearers were family and friends.
