Thelma Helen Laton, 91, of Chatom died July 16, 2010 at Washington County Hospital.
She was born Feb. 7, 1919. She was a member of Laton Hill Baptist Church. She was retired after having worked at Vanity Fair for 35 years. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one son, Loyd D. (Frances) Laton, Chatom; one daughter, Jearleen Moss, Chatom; a daughter-in-law, Jean Laton Beech, Chatom; two brothers, Arnett Lathan, Chatom, Nelson Lathan, Montgomery; one sister, Verlabee Orso, Malcolm; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Loud Laton; a son, Elgin Laton, a son-in-law, Perry Gene Moss, three brothers, Clifton Lathan, T.D. Lathan, Delvin Lathan and a sister, Ruby Casteen.
The service was July 18 at 8:30 a.m. at Laton Hill Baptist Church with Revs. Rickey Revette and Rob Jackson officiating. Burial was in the Laton Hill Cemetery. An online guest book may be signed at www.lathanfuneralhomes.com.
Active pallbearers were Howard Gaston, Tony Cooley, Adam Beech, Terry Sikes and John Goldman.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Lathan, Jr. Orso, Brice Caten, Harold Lathan, Charlie Lathan and James Lathan.
