Jerry L. Dunigan, 55, of Salitpa died Aug. 2, 2010 at Ocean Springs Hospital in Ocean Springs, Miss.
He was a graduate of Coffeeville High School from the Class of 1973. He was the son of Cora J. and Hython M. Cushion of Salitpa. He learned to weld at Hobson State Technical College in Thomasville. He worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding, renamed Northrop Gruman in Gautier, MS for the next 21 years. While in Saltipa he was member of the Good Hope Baptist Church.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Edna "Lou" Dunigan, Gautier, Miss.; one son, Patrick Viverette, Gautier, Miss.; five daughters, Doris Viverette, Tampa, Fla., Tamara "Chris" Smith, Cassandra Smith and Demetrius Smith, all of Ocean Springs, Amanda Smith, Gautier, Miss.; one brother, Benjamin (Cindy) Cushion, McIntosh; four sisters, Sheila D. Stewart, Rosemary Cushion Powe, Lisa A. Cushion, (Merlin) Pernell, Jennifer Cushion, all of Salitpa; devoted aunts, Mary Weathersbey, Mobile, Gwen (Al) Jarvis, Montgomery; and a host of nephews, nieces and friends in the Gautier area including the Gautier Men’s Organization; 11 grandchildren; a devoted godson, Ryheim Waelley.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Nathaniel H. "Bud" Dunigan.
The service will be Saturday, Aug. 7 from 12 noon until the funeral hour at 2 p.m. at the Springfield A.M.E. Zion Church, 10107 Highway 69, Jackson. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery in Salitpa. Jackson Memorial Funeral Home directed.
