She was born Sept. 3, 1922 to the parentage of the late Tom and Agnes Pugh. She was a native of Winn. She confessed She confessed
Christ at an early age and worshipped at Berry’s Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. In later years, she united with Mt. Zion #2 Baptist Church where she remained a member until her death. She will always be remembered as a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking food raised in her own garden.
Survivors include two devoted sons, Thomas (Erma) Pugh, James Pugh Jr., all of Flint, Mich; one brother, Clyde (Vergal Mae) Pugh, Winn; two sisters, Annie Parker, Jackson, Mattie Figgers, Mobile; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Arcola Pugh, Winn; seven grandchildren, Maurice (Jackie) Pugh, Desoto, Texas, Monique Pugh, Angela Pugh, both of Flint, Mich., Monica “Kay” Pugh, Jackson, Jason Pugh, Kendrid Pugh, both of Grove Hill, Shaquita “Little Coot” Pugh, Mobile; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving and caring nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of many years, James Pugh Sr., three brothers, Ira T. Pugh, Fred Pugh, L.C. Pugh, mother and father-inlaw, Lamb and Sophia Pugh, two brothers-in-law, J.C. Pugh and L.C. Pugh.
The service was Aug. 17 at 12 noon at Mt. Zion #2 Baptist Church in Grove Hill with Rev. Cory Pruitt officiating. Burial was in the Pugh Memorial Gardens in Winn. Andrews Funeral Home of Jackson directed.
Active pallbearers were Carl Pugh, Dale Pugh, Michael Pugh, Woodie Parker, Jerry Parker, Don Dickinson.
