Stephen "Steve" Hike, 66, of Grove Hill died Sept. 5, 2010.
He was originally from Monroe, Indiana but stayed in Mississippi and Alabama areas after serving in the Navy. He was a Navy Veteran and had worked for 27 years as a telephone lineman/repairman. He had undergone major surgery Wednesday, Sept. 1 prior to his death. He was loved and respected throughout the Grove Hill and Bassetts Creek communities for his gentle spirit and his willingness to help anyone in need.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Hike; a daughter, Stephanie Bright; a brother, Terry (Barbara) Hike; two grandsons, Justin Hike and Morgan Bright. He is also survived by his adopted family, Ralph (Janell) Hudson, Paul (Kathy) Hudson, Ray (Anne) Hudson, Linda (Dwaine) Huggins.
The service was Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. at Bassetts Creek Baptist Church. Burial was in the Bassetts Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. An online guest book may be signed at www.lathanfuneralhomes.com. Lathan Funeral Home of Grove Hill directed.
Active pallbearers were Ralph Hudson, Ray Hudson, Dwaine Huggins, Tony Cooke, Jeff Luker and Paul Jackson.
Honorary pallbearers were E.P. Walker, Claudie Hudson, Calvin McDonald, and Johnny Kilpatrick.
