Lorenzo Whitley, 98, of Thomasville died Aug. 31, 2010 at Mobile Infirmary.
He was born April 9, 1912 in Sweet Water. He was a long time member of the Thomasville United Methodist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 112. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. He received ETO Theater Ribbon and four bronze stars and a purple heart.
Survivors include a cousin, India Spinks, Thomasville; a nephew, James Whitley, Collinsville, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucie Rancont Whitley.
The service was Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. George Sedberry officiating. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham. Memorials may be made to the Thomasville United Methodist Church.
